Hydralazine HCl
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 10 mg qds for 2-4 days, increasing to 25 mg qds for the rest of the 1st wk. For the 2nd & subsequent wk, increase to a max of 50 mg qds.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, CAD, mitral valvular rheumatic heart disease, acute dissecting aneurism of the aorta, lupus erythematosus, uremia.
Special Precautions
Coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disorders; advanced renal damage, pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Peripheral neuritis, tachycardia, headache, palpitation, dizziness, weakness, nausea, vomiting & postural hypotension.
Drug Interactions
Increased hypotensive effect w/ diuretics or other antihypertensive agents. Decreased in BP w/ monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors. May reduce the pressor response to epinephrine.
