Tab Edema Initially 40 mg once daily. Mild cases 20 mg daily or 40 mg on alternate days. Severe cases Gradual titration up to 600 mg daily. Childn 1-3 mg/kg daily. Max: 40 mg daily. HTN 40-80 mg daily. Chronic renal insufficiency Initially 250 mg daily, may be increased by 250 mg every 4-6 hr up to max: 1.5 g in 24 hr; in exceptional cases, 2 g in 24 hr. Inj Pulmonary oedema Initially 40 mg slow IV inj over 1-2 min, may be increased to 80 mg. Childn 0.5-1.5 mg/kg daily. Max: 20 mg daily. HTN 40-80 mg daily.Oliguria in acute or chronic renal failure 250 mg diluted to 250 mL infused over 1 hr.
Not to be given in anuria or renal failure due to nephrotoxic or hepatotoxic drugs nor in renal failure associated w/ hepatic coma; pre-comatose state associated w/ hepatic cirrhosis. Prostatic hypertrophy or micturition impairment. Monitor fluid & electrolyte regularly. Pregnancy. Not to be given during lactation.
