Atenolol
Indications/Uses
HTN, angina pectoris, late treatment of MI.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN 50-100 mg daily. Angina pectoris 100 mg daily or 50 mg 2 times daily. Late treatment of MI 100 mg daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Bradycardia (<45 bpm), cardiogenic shock, hypotension, 2nd or 3rd degree heart block, severe peripheral arterial circulation disorders, uncontrolled heart failure, sick sinus syndrome, untreated pheochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis.
Special Precautions
Pregnancy & lactation. May affect ability to drive & use machines.
Adverse Reactions
Bradycardia, cold extremities, dizziness, headache, paraesthesia, sleep disorders, GI disorders.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ insulin & oral antidiabetic drugs, Ca-channel blockers, clonidine.
