Per 0.5 mL Recombinant pertussis toxin 5 mcg, filamentous hemagglutinin 5 mcg
Indications/Uses
Active booster immunization against pertussis in individuals ≥11 yr. Alternative to combined tetanus, diphtheria & acellular pertussis vaccines in persons having received multiple & frequent tetanus & diphtheria vaccine doses.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administer 0.5 mL single dose by deep IM inj.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity or life-threatening reaction. Patients w/ encephalopathy w/ unknown aetiology eg, coma, prolonged seizures, or decreased level of consciousness w/in 7 days following previous vaccination w/ any whooping cough vaccine; progressive or unstable neurological disorders, uncontrolled epilepsy or progressive encephalopathy.
Special Precautions
Not to be administered intravascularly or give fractional doses (<0.5 mL). Administration to patients who are suffering from acute severe febrile illness should be postponed. Patients who had any of the following adverse events w/in 48 hr after a previous immunization w/ any whooping cough vaccines: high temp (≥40ºC) w/o any identifiable cause, convulsions & collapse or shock-like state, patients w/ any bleeding disorders, thrombocytopenia or anticoagulant therapy.
Adverse Reactions
Pain at inj site, malaise, fatigue, headache, myalgia, arthralgia. Redness & induration at inj site, chills, fever (≥37.5°C), vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Immunosuppressants (may interfere the development of expected immune response).
