Orphenadrine citrate
Indications/Uses
Relief of painful muscle spasm associated w/ fibrositis, whiplash injuries, torticollis, prolapsed intervertebral disc, strains, sprains & similar conditions. Tension headache & persistent hiccups.
Dosage/Direction for Use
100 mg bid. In severe cases, dose may be increased to 300 mg in any 24-hr period.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals if GI upset occurs. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Patients w/ glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy or obstruction at the bladder neck, myasthenia gravis.
Special Precautions
Tachycardia, cardiac decompensation, coronary insufficiency, cardiac arrhythmias. Periodically monitor blood, urine & liver function in prolonged use. May impair the ability to operate machinery or drive. Ambulatory patient. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, dry mouth, blurring of vision.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced antimuscarinic effects w/ amantadine, some antihistamines, butyrophenones, phenothiazines & TCAs.
