Loxoprofen Na
Indications/Uses
Chronic articular rheumatism, OA, lumbago, shoulder periarthritis & shoulder-arm-neck syndrome. Relieves pain & inflammation after operation, trauma & tooth extraction.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 60 mg tid. Single dose: 60-120 mg.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
History of hypersensitivity; aspirin-induced asthma. Patients w/ peptic ulcers, severe blood & hepatic function disorders, cardiac function failure; renal impairment. Late stages of pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if hypersensitivity; peptic ulcer occurs. Peptic ulcer associated w/ chronic NSAID-analgesics use; cardiac dysfunction; bronchial asthma; ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease. Patients w/ or w/ history of blood & hepatic function disorders; renal impairment. Excessive decrease in body temp, collapse, coldness of limbs. Acute inflammation, pain & fever. Debilitating disease. May mask signs & symptoms of infection. Avoid long-term use; concomitant use w/ other anti-inflammatory-analgesic agents. Temporary sterility in women receiving long-term NSAID therapy. Women of childbearing potential or pregnant women. Not to be used in women in late stages of pregnancy. Avoid during lactation. Low-birth-wt infants, newborns, infants, toddlers. Childn & adolescents. Elderly w/ high-grade fever.
Adverse Reactions
Stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, nausea &/or vomiting, anorexia; edema; rash; urticaria; sleepiness; increased AST (GOT) & ALT (GPT). Aplastic anemia. TEN, SJS, erythema multiforme.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced anticoagulant effect of coumarin anticoagulants eg, warfarin. Increased risk of bleeding w/ factor Xa inhibitor. Enhanced hypoglycemic effect of sulfonylurea hypoglycemics eg, tolbutamide. Enhanced convulsant effect of new quinolone antimicrobials eg, levofloxacin hydrate. Increased plasma MTX & lithium conc. Reduced diuretic-antihypertensive effects of thiazide diuretics eg, hydrochlorothiazide. Reduced antihypertensive effects of ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
