Glucosamine sulfate
Indications/Uses
Improvement of symptoms & mobility of joints in knee OA.
Dosage/Direction for Use
OA Dissolve 1 sachet w/ a glass of water to be taken once daily for at least 4-8 wk.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Avoid use in patients w/ allergy to shellfish & shellfish products. Diabetes patients. Asthma exacerbation. May cause high blood sugar level in long term use; enhance anticoagulant activity of warfarin. Periodically monitor blood glucose. Monitor INR level & bleeding in patients w/ combination therapy w/ warfarin. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances including nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, heartburn, constipation, diarrhea & anorexia. Glucose intolerance due to insulin resistance & asthma exacerbation.
Drug Interactions
Reduced effectiveness of antidiabetic agents, doxorubicin, etoposide & teniposide. May enhance anticoagulant activity of warfarin.
