May cause abdominal pain or diarrhoea; consider dose reduction, interruption or discontinuation depending on the patient's symptoms; carefully evaluate the need for continuing treatment on a regular basis. Patients w/ biliary obstruction or reduced bile acid secretion. Pregnancy. Advise lactating women to avoid Goofice; if treatment is essential, discontinue breastfeeding during treatment. Infants (including low-birth-wt & nursing), neonates or ped patients. Elderly.
May interfere w/ reabsorption of bile acid prep (eg, ursodeoxycholic & chenodeoxycholic acid). Effect may be attenuated by Al-containing antacids (eg, sucralfate hydrate, aldioxa); cholestyramine & colestimide. May elevate blood levels & possibly enhance effects of digoxin, dabigatran etexilate, methanesulfonate. May decrease blood levels & effects of midazolam.
