Vivitra (trastuzumab) is a recombinant humanized monoclonal IgG1 antibody (containing 1328 amino acids) produced in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cell line. It is directed against an antigen called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). HER2 is found in large amounts on the surface of some cancer cells where it stimulates their growth. When trastuzumab binds to HER2 it stops the growth of such cells leading to cell death.
The reconstitution of the lyophilized cake yields a clear, colourless to pale yellow liquid solution. (See Table 1.)
