Contents
Dried Al hydroxide 300 mg, Mg trisilicate 200 mg, simethicone 20 mg
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of gastric hyperacidity, dyspepsia due to hyperacidity & heartburn.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1-2 hrs after meals. Chew & swallow.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
May mask internal bleeding symptoms secondary to NSAIDs. Avoid concomitant use w/ tetracycline, quinolones, propranolol, atenolol, captopril, ranitidine, famotidine & aspirin. Al may cause nausea, vomiting & constipation; risk of osteomalacia in patients w/ low phosphate diet. Hypermagnesaemia may occur w/ impaired renal function. Mg hydroxide & other Mg salts may cause CNS depression w/ renal insufficiency; may cause diarrhea potentially leading to dehydration.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting & constipation, intestinal obstruction; osteomalacia. Diarrhoea; hypermagnesaemia; CNS depression.
Drug Interactions
Reduced absorption of alendronate, digoxin w/ Al or Mg hydroxide, Mg trisilicate. Concurrent use w/ calcitriol may lead to hypermagnesemia (monitor for Mg intoxication if cannot be avoided). Decreased renal elimination of ephedrine (monitor for potential ephedrine toxicity). May increase AUC of glipizide or glyburide w/ Mg hydroxide (monitor for signs of hypoglycemia if concomitant use cannot be avoided). Increased level of mefenamic acid & tolfenamic acid (monitor for potential NSAID toxicity).
