Contents
Per 300 mg Iopamidol 612.4 mg/mL (iodine 300 mg/mL). Per 370 mg Iopamidol 755.53 mg/mL (iodine 370 mg/mL)
Indications/Uses
Cerebral, coronary, selective visceral & peripheral arteriography, thoracic & abdominal aortography, angiocardiography, venography, digital subtraction angiography (DSA), cerebral, peripheral & abdominal arteries DSA.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Lumbar & thoraco-cervical myelography, selective renal arteriography 5-10 mL. Cerebral angiography 5-10 mL repeat as necessary. Peripheral arteriography & venography 20-50 mL repeat as necessary. Max: Not to exceed 250 mL. Brain scanning 50-100 mL. Whole body scanning 40-100 mL. IV urography 40-80 mL. Arthrography 1-10 mL depending on joint being examined. Angiocardiography, left ventriculography & retrograde aortography 30-80 mL. Coronary arteriography 4-8 mL/artery repeat as necessary. Selective visceral angiography 30-70 mL. Hepatic visceral angiography 40-70 mL. Coeliac visceral angiography 5-30 mL. DSA 50 mL IV inj. Left ventriculography DSA 25 mL. Selective coronary arteriography by IA DSA 2-5 mL. Childn Cerebral angiography, peripheral arteriography, venography, angiocardiography, left ventriculography, retrograde aortography, superior & inferior mesenteric visceral angiography & selective renal arteriography Individualized dosage depending on body size & age. IV urography 1-2.5 mg/kg or depending on body size & age. DSA 0.5-0.75 mg/kg IV inj. Selective coronary arteriography by IA DSA 1-1.5 mg/kg. Elderly Lowest effective adult dose. Severe renal failure Usual high methods up to 1.5 mg/kg or depending on body size & age.
Contraindications
Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, multiple myeloma. Immediate repeat myelography. Intrathecal administration in presence of significant local or systemic bacterial infection. Concomitant use w/ intrathecal corticosteroids. Severe hepatic & renal diseases.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity. CSF blockade, presence of blood in CSF. History of epilepsy. Right heart insufficiency & pulmonary HTN. Advanced arteriosclerosis, HTN, heart failure, major systemic diseases, recent cerebral embolism or thrombosis. Risk of procedure-related thrombosis & embolism. Avoid exposure to strong light. Not to be mixed w/ other contrast medium. Avoid use w/ neuroleptics, analgesics, antiemetics, antihistamines, phenothiazine sedatives. Concomitant use w/ anticonvulsants. Avoid contact w/ Cu-containing metallic surfaces. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Sensation of heat; bradycardia associated w/ systemic hypotension; tonic/clonic convulsions, aphasia, fainting, transient visual field narrowing, hemiparesis, coma.
Drug Interactions
Lactic acidosis leading to acute renal failure w/ metformin.
