Mometasone - Nasal

Patient Medicine Information
Why do I need this medicine?
Mometasone helps alleviate constant runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and itchy nose that are associated with allergic rhinitis (an inflammation or irritation inside the lining of the nose caused by allergens) which may be seasonal or perennial (year-round).

This medicine may also be used to treat nasal polyps (small growths on the inside lining of the nose).
How do I use this medicine?
Use Mometasone exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

If you are using Mometasone nasal spray for the first time, remove the cap and press the pump 10 times until you produce an even spray. If you have not used the spray for 14 days or more, press the pump twice or more to get an even spray before using it.

To use the nasal spray, follow these steps:
  1. Blow your nose gently to clean your nostrils before using the spray.
  2. Shake the bottle well.
  3. Close one nostril with your finger. Hold the pump straight and upright, placing the nozzle into the other nostril.
  4. Spray into the nostril and breathe in gently. Keep your head slightly tilted forward while holding the bottle vertically upright. Do not tilt your head backwards during or after using the spray.
  5. If more than one dose is required for each nostril, alternate the sprays between nostrils.
  6. After each use, wipe and cap the nasal spray.
Make sure you know how to use your nasal spray. If you have problems or do not understand the instructions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not share your nasal spray with others as it could spread infection.

The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on your condition and response to the medication.

Do not stop using Mometasone suddenly as it may worsen your condition. Your doctor will gradually reduce the dose before stopping it completely. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:

Why is it important to keep my appointments with the doctor?
