Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of seasonal or perennial rhinitis in adults, adolescents & childn 3-11 yr & acute rhinosinusitis in ≥12 yr w/o signs/symptoms of severe bacterial infection. Nasal polyps in patients ≥18 yr. Prophylaxis in patients w/ history of moderate to severe seasonal allergic rhinitis symptoms.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Seasonal allergic or perennial rhinitis Adult including geriatric & adolescent 2 sprays (50 mcg/spray) in each nostril once daily, may be reduced to 1 spray in each nostril as maintenance. Max: 4 sprays in each nostril once daily. Childn 3-11 yr 1 spray (50 mcg/spray) in each nostril once daily. Nasal polyposis Adult including geriatric & adolescent ≥18 yr 2 sprays (50 mcg/spray) in each nostril bd, may be reduced to 2 sprays in each nostril once daily. Acute rhinosinusitis Adult including geriatric & adolescent ≥12 yr 2 actuations (50 mcg/actuation) in each nostril bd.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe nasal infection especially candidiasis, patients w/ hemorrhagic diathesis or history of recurrent nasal bleeding.
Special Precautions
Not to be used in presence of untreated localized infection involving nasal mucosa. Recent nasal surgery or trauma. Active or quiescent tuberculous resp tract infection or untreated fungal, bacterial, systemic viral infections or ocular herpes simplex; severe bacterial infection. Immunosuppressed patients. Visual disturbance. W/drawal symptoms during transfer from systemic corticosteroids. High doses & long-term treatment. Women of childbearing potential. Pregnancy & lactation. Growth retardation in childn.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, epistaxis, pharyngitis, nasal burning, irritation & ulceration.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ strong CYP3A4 inhibitors eg, ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir, cobicistat-containing products.
