Loratadine
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis. Symptomatic control of idiopathic chronic urticaria & other allergic dermatological disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 10 mg once daily. Childn 2-12 yr, >30 kg 10 mg once daily, ≤30 kg 5 mg once daily. Severe hepatic impairment Initially 5 mg once daily or 10 mg every other day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy. Childn <2 yr.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use approx 48 hr prior to skin testing procedures. Severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Fatigue, headache, somnolence, dry mouth, GI disorders, allergic symptoms.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ ketoconazole, erythromycin or cimetidine. Drugs inhibiting hepatic metabolism.
