Description
Each 5 mL contains Methisoprinol 250 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: Methisoprinol is a complex of chemical compound of inosine and aminoalcohol, dimethylamino-isopropanol at 1:3 molar ratio.
Methisoprinol increases protein and nucleoprotein synthesis; protects structure and function of polyribosome; inhibits ribonucleases; reinforces polyribosome function; inhibits viral transfer to polyribosome of body cells to stop the viral multiplications. Based on clinical studies observed by Argentina scientist, methisoprinol shows non-specific antiviral activity and has broad spectrum.
Indications/Uses
Viral disease in respiratory tract, exanthem disease, infectious hepatitis and some viral diseases in nervous system. Influenza in children and adult, bronchiolitis, rhinopharyngitis, varicella (chicken pox), measles (rubeola), herpes simplex and herpes zoster, parotitis, etc.
Dosage/Direction for Use
For children below five years recommended dose is 50 mg/kg body weight daily. These dosage can be increased up to 100 mg/kg body weight daily, depend on the severity of diseases.
For children over five years and adult: average recommended dose is 50 mg/kg body weight daily, and could be increased up to 60 mg/kg body weight daily. Those doses administered in 4-6 equally divided. If it's required, when disease complicated by microbe and there are not contraindications for concomitant administration with antibiotic or chemotherapy and these according to suggestion of physician.
Duration of treatment: For viral diseases of short evolution: Treatment should be continued until 1-2 days after symptoms subside on according to suggestion of physician to avoid recurrence occurs.
For viral disease of long-term periodic: Treatment should ho continued until 1-2 weeks after symptoms subside, or according to suggestion of physician to avoid recurrence occurs.
Contraindications
Caution should be observed in treating patients with gout because this drug slight transient increase in serum uric acid level.
Due to slight effect on heart, caution should be given in treating patients with heart disease who is treated with digitalis therapy.
Methisoprinol should not be administered on bacteria infection because they have no antibacterial effect.
Methisoprinol should not be used during first 4 months pregnancy.
It is not known whether Methisoprinol is exerted in human milk.
Considered ratio between therapy to toxic dose is 1:100, Methisoprinol can be used without worried about toxic effect. Accumulation will not appear due to Methisoprinol and its metabolite are rapidly eliminated in the urine.
Adverse Reactions
The only consistently observed drug-related side effects is a transient elevation of urine and serum uric acid levels. This rise in uric acid is due to degradation of inosine to uric acid as occurs in the metabolism of the natural purine, inosine, in humans. Infrequent and transient side effects are skin rashes or itching, fatigue or malaise and diarrhea. In rare instance, transient headaches, vertigo, nervousness or insomnia, constipation and polyuria (increased frequency of urination) have been recorded, the frequency of these side effects has no approached statistical significance in over all post-marketing surveillance data.
Drug Interactions
Clinical studies to date have shown no drug interactions and no food interactions are known.

Store at temperature below 30°C.
