Tretinoin.
Description
RETICOR 0.025 cream: Each gram of cream contains Tretinoin 0.25 mg.
RETICOR 0.05 cream: Each gram of cream contains Tretinoin 0.50 mg.
RETICOR 0.1 cream: Each gram of cream contains Tretinoin 1.00 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: Tretinoin decreases cohesiveness of follicular epithelial cells with decreased microcomedo formation. In addition. Tretinoin stimulates mitosis activity and increase turn over of follicular epithelial cells causing extrusion of the comedos.
Indications/Uses
For the topical treatment of acne vulgaris, to eradicate comedos, papula, and pustula.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply a thin film to the lesion skin area once daily at night, or as recommended by the physician.
Contraindications
Patients who are hypersensitive to Tretinoin.
Patients with acute skin inflammation such as acute eczema, rosacea.
Special Precautions
Do not apply to area around nose, mouth, and mucous membrane.
Use with caution in pregnant and nursing women.
Topical application may cause some local erythema and peeling effect.
If local irritation develop, reduce the dosage or discontinue this medications until the skin has adapted to Tretinoin.
Use with caution in patients have acute eczema, because may occurs serious skin irritation.
During the use of this medications exposure to sunlight should be avoided, in patients who owning to their occupation are exposed to sunlight, the use of sunscreen and wear protective clothing is recommended.
Patients with sunburn should be withdrawned from the medications until the skin has recovered.
Excessive application this medications may lead to marketed redness, peeling or discomfort.
Adverse Reactions
The skin of certain sensitive individuals may become excessively red, edematous, blistered, or crusted. If these occur, the medication should be adjusted to a level the patient can tolerate or the medication should be stopped until the skin has recovered.
True contact allergy to topical Tretinoin is rarely found.
Temporary hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation has been reported with repeated Tretinoin application. Some patients have been reported to have heightened susceptibility to sunlight while under treatment with Tretinoin.
To all adverse reactions of topical Tretinoin have been reversible upon discontinuation of therapy.
Drug Interactions
Particular cautions should be exercised in using preparations containing Sulphur, Resorcinol, Salicylic acid, and Benzoyl peroxide.
Topically application medicated or abrasive soaps and cleanser, cosmetic that have strong drying effect and product with high concentration of alcohol, and astringent should be used with cautions because of possible of interaction with Tretinoin.
Storage
Store below 30°C, tightly closed, and protect from light.
