Tretinoin
Indications/Uses
Acne vulgaris, to eradicate comedos, papula & pustula.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply a thin film to the lesion skin area once daily at night.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ acute skin inflammation eg, acute eczema, rosacea.
Special Precautions
Do not apply to area around nose, mouth, & mucous membrane. May cause some local erythema & peeling effect. Reduce the dosage or discontinue use if local irritation develop. Serious skin irritation may occur in patients w/ acute eczema. Avoid exposure to sunlight during treatment. Use sunscreen & wear protective clothing is recommended. Patients w/ sunburn should be withdrawned from the medication. Excessive application may lead to marketed redness, peeling or discomfort. Pregnant & nursing women.
Adverse Reactions
Red, edematous, blistered, or crusted skin; temporary hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation w/ repeated application; heightened susceptibility to sunlight.
Drug Interactions
Prep containing sulphur, resorcinol, salicylic acid, & benzoyl peroxide. Topically application medicated or abrasive soaps & cleanser, cosmetic that have strong drying effect & product w/ high conc of alcohol, & astringent.
