Levodropropizine.
Description
Each 10 ml contains: Levodropropizine 60 mg.
Action
Antitussive. Levodropropizine is a new compound with an essentially peripheral action on the tracheobronchial tree.
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of cough in adults and children older than 12 years.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults and children over 12 years of age: RESPITUSS is administered orally of 10 ml (as per the mark on the measuring cup; equivalent to 60 mg of Levodropropizine) up to three times daily at intervals of at least 6 hours. This medication should be taken between meals, since the effect of concomitant food consumption have not yet been determined.
Treatment duration: The treatment should be taken until the cough clears up, or as directed by a physician, for a period not to exceed seven days. If symptoms have not stopped after this period, treatment should be stopped and a physician should be consulted.
Contraindications
This drug should not be used in: Patients who are hypersensitive to this product.
Patients with excessive discharge of mucus.
Patients with limited mucociliary function (Kartagener's syndrome, ciliary dyskinesia).
Patients with severely limited liver function.
Pregnant and nursing mothers.
Patients who suffer bronchorrhoea.
Special Precautions
Care should be taken for patients with serious renal insufficiency.
Notice to diabetics: 10 ml of this product contains 3.5 g sucrose (equal to 0.3 bread units).
The safety and efficacy of Levodropropizine in children less than 24 months has not been established.
Cough remedies are symptomatic remedies that should only be used pending diagnosis of the causative disease and/or pending the effect of the treatment of the underlying disease. It is recommended that much remedies should be used only for a short period of time (maximum 14 days).
The dose and dose interval do not have to be adjusted for older patients. However, necessary care should be taken with older patients because there are indications that the pharmacodynamic sensitivity to many drugs changes with age.
There is no information available on the effect of food on the absorption of the drug, RESPITUSS should not be taken with the meal.
Effects on ability to drive vehicles or use machines: Drivers of vehicles and machine operators are warned of the possibility of drowsiness with the use of this drug.
Adverse Reactions
The following adverse reactions sometimes occur: Gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea.
Central nervous system: exhaustion, faintness, somnolence, clouding of consciousness, numbness, dizziness, headache.
Cardiovascular system: Palpitations.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur in patients who have a history of allergies to parabens.
Allergic skin reactions were observed in very rare cases.
Consult a physician if other adverse reactions appear.
Drug Interactions
Care should be taken when sedative drugs are simultaneously administered to particularly sensitive individuals.

Store below 30°C.
