Paracetamol
Indications/Uses
Relief of pains & reduce body temp associated w/ headache, toothache, fever, mild & severe pains, tonsillectomy pains or reactions after immunization.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult 1-2 tab 3-4 times daily. Childn 6-12 yr ½-1 tab 3-4 times daily. Syr Childn 9-12 yr 15-20 mL 3-4 times daily, 6-9 yr 10-15 mL 3-4 times daily, 2-6 yr 5-10 mL 3-4 times daily, 1-2 yr 5 mL 3-4 times daily, 0-1 yr 2.5 mL 3-4 times daily. Oral drops Childn 12-15 mth 1-1.2 mL 3-4 times daily, Infant 10-12 mth 0.8-0.9 mL 3-4 times daily, 7-9 mth 0.6-0.7 mL 3-4 times daily, 4-6 mth 0.4-0.5 mL 3-4 times daily, 1-3 mth 0.1-0.3 mL 3-4 times daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hepatic disturbance or severe liver dysfunction.
Special Precautions
Renal impairment. Tab & syr: Consult physician if fever does not decrease after 2 days or if pain persists after 5 days. Increased risk of liver damage in patients who consume alcohol.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions. Liver damage in prolonged use & large doses.
Drug Interactions
Oral drops: Alcohol, anticoagulant, chloramphenicol, aspirin, phenobarb, liver enzyme inducer, hepatotoxic agents.
