Indications/Uses
Management of nausea & vomiting induced by chemotherapy, radiotherapy & op.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Treatment of post-op nausea & vomiting 4 mg single dose by IM or slow IV inj. Prevention of nausea & vomiting associated w/ chemotherapy & radiotherapy Highly emetogenic chemotherapy eg, cisplatin: Initially 8 mg slow IV or infusion for 15 min immediately prior to chemotherapy, followed by ondansetron 1 mg/hr continuous infusion for <24 hr or 2 inj of 8 mg by slow IV or infusion for 15 min w/ 4 hr interval. Also could be followed by 8 mg orally twice daily for <5 days. Moderately emetogenic chemotherapy eg, cyclosphamide: 8 mg by slow IV inj or infusion for 15 min immediately prior to chemotherapy, followed by 8 mg orally twice daily for <5 days. Childn >4 yr 5 mg/m2 IV over 15 min immediately prior to chemotherapy, followed by 4 mg orally every 12 hr for up to 5 days. Patient w/ impaired hepatic function Max: 8 mg.

Headache, flushing or warmth sensation in the head & epigastrum, sedation, constipation & diarrhea.
