Giving zinc together with ORS as soon as possible after diarrhea will reduce the severity of dehydration. After diarrhea stops, give zinc continuously to replace the lost zinc content. The risk of children experiencing diarrhea again in the next 2-3 months can be reduced. Treatment of diarrhea together with ORS aims to prevent or treat dehydration and to prevent nutritional deficiencies.
