Magnesium trisilicate, dried aluminium hydroxide gel, chlordiazepoxide HCl.
Description
Each tablet contains: Magnesium Trisilicate 325 mg (equivalent to Magnesium Trisilicate Anhydrous 235 mg), Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel 325 mg (equivalent to Aluminium Hydroxide 248 mg), Chlordiazepoxide HCl 5 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: BESANMAG Tablet is a drugs combination suitable for treatment of excessive gastric acid, peptic and duodenal ulcer.
Magnesium Trisilicate and Aluminium Hydroxide is a weak bases that reacts with gastric acid which contains chloride to form salts and water, is used to neutralize gastric hyperacidity and treat dyspepsia symptoms.
Chlordiazepoxide HCl is a sedative-hypnotic class which belong to the class of Benzodiazepine, a CNS depressant that works primarily in the limbic system and reticular formation of the brain, which is commonly used to treat anxiety, withdrawal symptoms of acute alcoholism, and preoperative premedication.
Indications/Uses
Hyperacidity due to or during stress.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tablet, 2-3 times daily, between meals. To prevent the interactions with other drugs, they should be administered with intervals of 2 hours after antacid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to drug component.
Do not give to people with severe kidney dysfunction, because it can cause hypermagnesia (elevated blood magnesium levels).
Not recommended for consumption by pregnant women. Chlordiazepoxide potentially increase the risk of congenital abnormalities (teratogenic effect) in the fetus.
Special Precautions
It should be used with caution in long term treatment for patients with impaired renal function; In elderly patients, sensitivity of GABA receptors and half-time may increase therefore they can increase the toxicity of Chlordiazepoxide; Amnesia; Increasing the degree of grand mal epilepsy; Organic brain disease; Cardiopulmonary Insufficiency; Liver and renal function decline; COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). If you are using another stomach ulcer medication such as Cimetidine or Tetracycline antibiotics, it should be consumed within 1-2 hours; Not recommended for children under 6 years, except as directed by a doctor, because the cause of the disease is usually unclear; Caution in administration to patients with low phosphorus diet and long-term use, because it can reduce the phosphorus levels in blood; Do not drive or use machines while taking this medicine; Caution in patients with chronic pulmonary insufficiency, liver disease, chronic renal disease and patients with personality disorders.
Adverse Reactions
Long-term use can cause the risk of development of tolerance, dependence, and addiction, therefore Chlordiazepoxide should be used in short term only. Chlordiazepoxide is classified into a specific drug potent (psychotropic). Withdrawal symptoms include insomnia, anxiety, dysphoria, irritability and more.
Drug Interactions
Antacids can affect the other drugs whether because they can bind to the drugs or increase the gastric pH therefore disturbing the dissolution and solubility of weak base or acids drugs (example: Tetracycline, Quinolones).
Concomitant use with CYP inhibitor such as Cimetidine will increase Chlordiazepoxide levels and increase drug levels in blood.
