Romosozumab
Indications/Uses
Severe osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fracture.
Dosage/Direction for Use
SC 210 mg once mthly for 12 mth. Administer as 2 SC inj (105 mg each) into abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. After 1st inj, immediately give 2nd inj but at a different site.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hypocalcaemia. History of MI or stroke.
Special Precautions
Risk of developing hypersensitivity reactions; MI & stroke; hypocalcaemia; osteonecrosis of the jaw & atypical femoral fractures. Patients should be adequately supplemented w/ Ca & vit D. Greater risk of developing hypocalcaemia in patients w/ severe renal impairment (eGFR 15-29 mL/min/1.73 m2) or receiving dialysis. Not indicated for use in women of child-bearing potential. Not indicated in pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Nasopharyngitis; arthralgia. Sinusitis; hypersensitivity, rash, dermatitis; headache; neck pain, muscle spasms; inj site reactions.
