Triamcinolone acetonide
Indications/Uses
Relief of inflammatory & pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly on the affected areas bid to tid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Untreated bacterial, fungal or viral skin lesions, acne, rosaceae & perioral dermatitis.
Special Precautions
Risk of systemic absorption; sensitivity reactions when adding antimicrobial substance for treating infected skin. Not to be applied w/ an occlusive dressing to large areas of the body. Avoid long-term use especially in childn. Not to be used for the treatment of ulcerative conditions, rosacea, indiscriminately for pruritus. Not to be used as sole therapy in widespread plaque psoriasis. Discontinue use & institute appropriate therapy if local irritation develops. May worsen the infection when treating skin infections. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, itching; irritation, erythema; dryness; folliculitis; hypertrichosis; pruritus; acneiform eruptions; hypopigmentation; perioral dermatitis; allergic contact dermatitis; numbness of fingers; stinging & skin cracking/tightening; skin maceration; secondary infection; skin atrophy; striae; miliaria; telangiectasia.
