Contents
Candesartan cilexetil 8 mg, amlodipine 5 mg (equiv to amlodipine besilate 6.93 mg)
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to dihydropyridines. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Bilateral or unilateral renal artery stenosis, renal & hepatic dysfunction, hyperkalemia. History of drug hypersensitivity. Closely observe BP, renal function in patients on hemodialysis, strict dietary salt restriction, under diuretic therapy, w/ hyponatremia, renal dysfunction & heart failure. Do not administer w/in 24 hr before surgery. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Lactation. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Angioedema, shock, syncope, unconsciousness, acute renal failure, hyperkalemia, hepatic dysfunction or jaundice, agranulocytosis, decreased WBC & platelet count, rhabdomyolysis, interstitial pneumonia, hypoglycemia, AV block.
Drug Interactions
Intensified hypotensive effect w/ ACE inhibitors, β-blockers, nitroglycerin & sildenafil. Elevated serum K level w/ K-sparing diuretics (spironolactone, triamterene), eplerenone & K supplements. Enhanced antihypertensive effect w/ diuretics (furosemide, trichlormethiazide) & grapefruit juice. Lithium toxicity may occur w/ lithium carbonate. Decreased hypotensive effect & aggravated renal function w/ NSAIDs or COX-2 selective inhibitors (indomethacin). Increased blood conc of amlodipine w/ CYP3A4 inhibitors (erythromycin, diltiazem, ritonavir, itraconazole). Decreased blood conc of amlodipine w/ CYP3A4 inducers (rifampicin).
