Inactivated quadrivalent flu vaccine (split virion)
Indications/Uses
Active immunization of adults & childn ≥3 yr. Prevention of flu caused by 2 subtypes of flu A & B virus contained in the vaccine.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Adult & childn ≥3 yr 0.5 mL as single dose. Childn <9 yr, previously unvaccinated w/ any seasonal flu vaccine Administer 2 doses w/ each dose administered at least 4 wk apart.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substances, or to any component that may be present as traces eg, eggs (ovalbumin, chicken proteins), formaldehyde, or polysorbate 80. History of hypersensitivity to previous flu vaccine.
Special Precautions
Not to be administered intravascularly. Anaphylactic event or syncope (fainting). Check health status of patient before vaccination.
Adverse Reactions
Systemic reactions: Headache, fever (38°C), muscle aches (myalgia), nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, nausea, vomiting. Local reactions: Inj site pain & swelling, malaise.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ immunosuppressants eg, cyclosporin.
