Indications/Uses

Symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis & non-complicated cutaneous manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Tab Adult & childn ≥12 yr 60 mg bid or 180 mg once daily. Decreased renal function 60 mg once daily. Childn 6-11 yr 30 mg bid. A dose of 30 mg once daily is recommended as the starting dose in patients w/ decreased renal function. Oral susp Seasonal allergic rhinitis Childn 2-11 yr 30 mg (5 mL) bid. Chronic idiopathic urticaria Childn 2-11 yr (>10.5 kg) 30 mg (5 mL) bid, 6 mth to <2 yr (≤10.5 kg) 15 mg (2.5 mL) bid. Ped patient w/ renal failure 2-11 yr (>10.5 kg) 30 mg once daily, 6 mth to <2 yr (≤10.5 kg) 15 mg once daily.

Overdosage

Administration

Should be taken on an empty stomach: Do not take w/ fruit juice.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Childn <2 yr (w/ seasonal allergic rhinitis) & <6 mth (w/ chronic idiopathic urticaria).

Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea. Fatigue, insomnia, nervousness, sleep disorders or paroniria. Rash, urticaria, pruritus & hypersensitivity reactions eg, angioedema, chest tightness, dyspnea, flushing & systemic anaphylaxis.
