Indications/Uses
FC tab & oral soln: Stroke, acute phase & its neurological sequelae; traumatic brain injury & its neurological sequelae; cognitive & behavioural impairment secondary to chronic vascular & degenerative cerebral disorders. Inj: CVA in acute & subacute phase. Recent head trauma & their sequelae.
Dosage/Direction for Use
FC tab Adult 500-2,000 mg (1-4 tab) daily, depending on severity of symptoms. Oral soln Adult 500-2,000 mg daily administered directly or dissolved in ½ glass (120 mL) of water. Inj 1,000-2,000 mg daily IM, slow IV inj or infusion (infusion rate: 40-60 drops/min). Can be administered orally.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Take w/ or between meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ parasympathetic hypertonia.
Special Precautions
FC tab: Childn. Oral soln: May cause asthma in patients w/ hypersensitivity to ASA. Fructose intolerance. FC tab & oral soln: Pregnancy & lactation. Inj: In case of persistent intracranial hemorrhage, it is recommended to administer Somazina very slowly at 30 drops/min.
Adverse Reactions
Oral soln: GI disorders. Inj: Hypotension & parasympathetic effects.
Drug Interactions
FC tab & oral soln: Potentiates effects of levodopa. Not to be co-administered w/ meclofenoxate-containing medicaments. Inj: Do not administer w/ centrophenoxine.
