Contents
Per 50/100 mcg accuhaler Salmeterol xinafoate 50 mcg, fluticasone propionate 100 mcg. Per 50/250 mg accuhaler Salmeterol xinafoate 50 mcg, fluticasone propionate 250 mcg. Per 50/500 mcg accuhaler Salmeterol xinafoate 50 mcg, fluticasone propionate 500 mcg. Per 25/50 mcg evohaler Salmeterol xinafoate 25 mcg, fluticasone propionate 50 mcg. Per 25/125 mcg evohaler Salmeterol xinafoate 25 mcg, fluticasone propionate 125 mcg. Per 25/250 mcg evohaler Salmeterol xinafoate 25 mcg, fluticasone propionate 250 mcg
Indications/Uses
Regular treatment of reversible obstructive airways disease including asthma; COPD including chronic bronchitis & emphysema.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Reversible obstructive airways disease including asthma Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr 50/100, 50/250 or 50/500 accuhaler 1 inhalation bid. 25/50, 25/125 or 25/250 evohaler 2 inhalations bid. Childn ≥4 yr 50/100 accuhaler 1 inhalation bid. 25/50 evohaler 2 inhalations bid. COPD including chronic bronchitis & emphysema Adult 50/250 or 50/500 accuhaler 1 inhalation bid. 25/125 to 25/250 evohaler 2 inhalations bid.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not for relief of acute symptoms. Do not discontinue abruptly in patients w/ asthma. Active or quiescent pulmonary TB, thyrotoxicosis, preexisting CV disease, history of DM, patients predisposed to low serum K levels. Regularly monitor height of childn in prolonged treatment; adrenocortical function. W/draw systemic therapy gradually. Pregnancy & lactation. Evohaler: Concomitant use w/ ritonavir, CYP3A4 inhibitors (eg, ketoconazole). Discontinue use if paradoxical bronchospasm occur.
Adverse Reactions
Headache. Candidiasis of mouth & throat, pneumonia (in COPD patients); hoarseness/dysphonia, muscle cramps, arthralgia.
Drug Interactions
Systemic corticosteroid effects including Cushing's syndrome & adrenal suppression w/ ritonavir. Increased systemic exposure w/ potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitors eg, ketoconazole, erythromycin. Prolongation of QTc interval w/ ketoconazole. Accuhaler: Nonselective & selective β-blockers.
