Latanoprost
Indications/Uses
Reduction of elevated IOP in patients w/ open-angle glaucoma or ocular HTN.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1 drop into affected eye once daily in the evening. Do not exceed once daily dosage.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to latanoprost, benzalkonium Cl.
Special Precautions
Possibility of increased pigmentation. May gradually change eye color, eyelashes & vellus hair. Angle-closure, inflammatory or neovascular glaucoma. Bacterial keratitis. Remove contact lenses prior to administration & may be reinserted 15 min after administration. History of intraocular inflammation (iris/uveitis). Do not use in patients w/ active intraocular inflammation. Patients who do not have intact posterior cap or have known risk factors for macular edema. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Blurred vision, burning & stinging, conjunctival hyperemia, foreign body sensation, itching, increased pigmentation of the iris, punctate epithelial keratopathy, eyelash, vellus hair changes of the eyelid. Dry eye, excessive tearing, eye pain, lid crusting, lid discomfort, pain, lid edema & erythema, photophobia, conjunctivitis, blepharitis. Keratitis, uveitis, macular & corneal oedema, corneal erosion, iritis, trichiasis, iris cyst, darkening of the palpebral skin of the eyelids, localized skin reaction on the eyelids, pseudopemphigoid of the ocular conjunctiva, periorbital & lid changes resulting in deepening of the eyelid sulcus.
