Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of menopause (hot flushes, excessive sweating, urinary symptoms, vag dryness). Prevention of postmenopausal bone loss.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 1 ruler (2.5 g) daily in the morning or evening in clean skin of arms, upper part of buttocks & thighs, lower part of abdomen, lumbar region, in combination w/ a progestogen for at least 12 days in each cycle. Duration of treatment: 24-28 days mthly.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. On-going thromboembolic diseases (vein inflammation w/ blood clot formation, obliteration of pulmonary vessel, MI, CVA related to blood clot). Certain cardiac & liver diseases; malignant breast or uterus tumours; undiagnosed vag bleeding. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Not to be applied over breast or mucous membranes. Discontinue use if breast tension, abdomen swelling, anxiety, irritability occurs. History of CVA (haemorrhage or blood clot); family medical history of breast cancer. Vascular disorders (ocular of the retina). Overwt, severe diabetes, high BP, endometriosis, kidney failure or hepatic disorders, epilepsy, asthma, lupus, pituitary tumour, porphyria, otospongiosis. Bedridden patient. Scheduled surgery. Periodic medical exam for breast nodule or cyst prior to, or during treatment. Kidney failure or hepatic disorders. Itching during previous pregnancy. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Persistent hot flushes, troublesome vag dryness, headaches, eye irritation due to contact lenses, nausea, vomiting, breast discharge & tension, abdominal pain, irritability, heaviness of legs or skin reddening, itching.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ anticonvulsants (carbamazepine, phenobarb, phenytoin, primidone), barbiturates, griseofulvin, rifabutin, rifampicin.
