Alogliptin benzoate
Indications/Uses
Adjunct to diet & exercise to improve glycemic control in adults w/ type 2 DM.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 25 mg once daily. Severe renal impairment (CrCl ≥15 to <30 mL/min) or w/ ESRD (CrCl <15 mL/min) or requiring hemodialysis 6.25 mg once daily. Moderate renal impairment (CrCl ≥30 to <60 mL/min) 12.5 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Patients w/ type 1 DM & diabetic ketoacidosis; history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to alogliptin-containing products.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ liver disease. Discontinue if pancreatitis (promptly) & serious hypersensitivity reaction is suspected. History of angioedema w/ another dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP) inhibitor.
