Metoclopramide HCl
Indications/Uses
Relief of nausea & vomiting, increase GI motility. Facilitate radiological procedures of GI tract.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM/IV Adult 1 amp every 8 hr. Radiological exam of GI tract 1-2 amp 10 min prior to procedure.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Epilepsy; phaeochromocytoma.
Special Precautions
Patients engaging in activities requiring mental alertness. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Extrapyramidal reactions, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, headache, depression, restlessness, GI disturbances, HTN.
Drug Interactions
Antagonised effects by anticholinergics & narcotic analgesics. Increased sedation w/ CNS depressants. Impaired absorption of digoxin & cimetidine. Increased absorption of paracetamol, tetracyclines & levodopa. May alter requirement of insulin.
