Chlorpromazine HCl
Indications/Uses
CNS disturbances requiring sedation, premed, controlled hypotension, induced hypothermia, antiemetic; schizophrenia; affective disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
25 mg bid-tid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Bone marrow depression, comatose states.
Special Precautions
CV or resp disorders, parkinsonism, diabetes, pheochromocytoma, epilepsy, glaucoma. May impair temp regulatory mechanism. Hepatic or renal impairment. Pregnancy, lactation. Elderly, debiliĀ­tated.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, dependence, antimuscarinic effects, insomnia, depression, convulsions, agitation, tachycardia, postural hypotension, allergic reactions, agranulocytosis, tardive dyskinesia, impaired glucose tolerance.
Drug Interactions
Alcohol, CNS depressants, guanethidine, anticholinergics, antacids, NSAIDs.
