Enhanced glucose lowering effect & susceptibility to hypoglycemia w/ oral antidiabetic agents, ACE inhibitors, pentoxifylline, perhexiline, disopyramide, fibrates, fluoxetine, MAOIs, dextropropoxyphene, salicylates & sulfonamide antibiotics. May reduce blood glucose lowering effect & susceptibility to hyperglycemia w/ corticosteroids, danazol, diazoxide, diuretics, glucagon, INH, OCs, phenothiazine derivatives, somatotrophin, sympathomimetic agents (eg, epinephrine, salbutamol, terbutaline), thyroid hormones, protease inhibitors & atypical antipsychotic medications (eg, olanzapine & clozapine). Potentiated or weaken blood glucose lowering effect w/ β-blockers, clonidine, lithium salts or alcohol. Hypoglycemia may occur w/ pentamidine. Reduced or absent signs of adrenergic counter regulation w/ β-blockers, clonidine, guanethidine & reserpine.
