Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Preexisting hypercalcemia. Severe renal impairment. Metabolic bone diseases other than primary osteoporosis (including hyperparathyroidism & Paget's disease of the bone). Unexplained elevations of alkaline phosphatase. Prior external beam or implant radiation therapy to the skeleton. Patients w/ skeletal malignancies or bone metastases. Pregnancy & lactation.
W/draw blood sample at least 16 hr after inj. May cause small increases in urinary Ca excretion. Patient w/ active or recent urolithiasis. Isolated episodes of transient orthostatic hypotension. Moderate renal impairment. Osteosarcoma in long-term treatment. Women of childbearing potential should use effective methods of contraception during treatment. Patients w/ transient, orthostatic hypotension or dizziness should refrain from driving or use of machines. Discontinue use if pregnancy occurs. Ped patients or young adult w/ open epiphyses. May induce small, transient increases in serum Ca.
