Indications/Uses
Vertigo & vestibular disorders. Migraine prophylaxis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Take at night to minimise the effects of drowsiness.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Porphyria. History of mental depression, Parkinson's disease or other extrapyramidal disorders.
Special Precautions
Angle-closure glaucoma, urinary retention, prostatic hyperplasia or pyloroduodenal obstruction. Avoid alcohol use. May affect ability to drive & operate machinery. Avoid use during pregnancy. Lactation. Not to be given in neonates.
Adverse Reactions
CNS depression, drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, constipation, parkinsonian extrapyramidal effects, galactorrhea, mental depression, increased appetite & wt gain.
Drug Interactions
Increased metabolism w/ carbamazepine, phenytoin, valproate. Enhance sedative effects of alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opioid analgesics, anxiolytics, sedatives & antipsychotics. Additive antimuscarinic action w/ atropine & some antidepressants (tricyclics & MAOIs).
