Indications/Uses
Resp tract, ENT & skin & soft tissue infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
250 mg-tab Adult Duration: 7 days (range: 5-10 days). Most infections, mild to moderate lower resp tract infections & pyelonephritis 250 mg bid. UTI 125 mg bid. More severe lower resp tract infections or suspected pneumonia 500 mg bid. Uncomplicated gonorrhea 1 g single dose. Lyme disease Adult & childn >12 yr 500 mg bid for 20 days. Childn Most infections 125 mg bid. Childn 3 mth up to 12 yr 10 mg/kg bid. Max: 250 mg daily. Childn ≥2 yr Otitis media 250 mg bid. 500-mg tab 250-500 mg bid.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Anaphylactic reaction to penicillins.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, hypersensitivity reactions, headache.
Drug Interactions
Antacids.
