Rivastigmine hydrogen tartrate
Indications/Uses
Mild to moderately severe dementia of the Alzheimer type & for dementia associated w/ Parkinson's disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 1.5 mg bid. May increase to 3 mg bid after a min of 2 wk of treatment, subsequently to 4.5 mg bid, up to a max of 6 mg bid. Maintenance: 1.5-6 mg bid.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Oral soln: Use the oral dosing syringe provided to withdraw soln from container. Swallow soln directly from syringe.
Contraindications
Serious hypersensitivity to other carbamate derivatives.
Special Precautions
Sick-sinus syndrome, severe cardiac arrhythmias, gastroduodenal ulcerative conditions in predisposed patients, resp diseases, urinary obstruction, seizure. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, dyspepsia, dizziness, headache.
Drug Interactions
Cholinomimetics, anticholinergics.
