Itopride HCl
Indications/Uses
GI symptoms caused by gastric dysmotility & delayed gastric emptying, sensation of bloating, early satiety, post-prandial fullness, upper abdominal pain or discomfort, anorexia, heartburn, nausea & vomiting. Functional (non-ulcer) dyspepsia or chronic gastritis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 150 mg daily (50 mg tid). Duration: Up to 8 wk.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients in whom an increase in GI motility could be harmful eg, GI hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction or perforation.
Special Precautions
May enhance acetylcholine actions & may produce cholinergic side effects. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <16 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Drug Interactions
May influence absorption particularly in drugs w/ narrow therapeutic index, SR or EC formulation. May reduce action w/ anticholinergics.
