Dextromethorphan HBr 20 mg, guaifenesin (glyceryl guaiacolate) 50 mg, terpin hydrate 85 mg
Indications/Uses
As expectorant & relief of cough due to common cold, chronic bronchitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not to be used for persistent or chronic cough eg, w/ smoking, emphysema, asthma, or cough accompanied by excessive secretions; in patients who received MAOI or w/in 2 wk after discontinuing MAOI. Not to be given during pregnancy. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Mild drowsiness, headache, rash, nausea, vomiting, confusion, constipation, GI disturbance, stomach pain, mild dizziness, urticaria.
Drug Interactions
Potentiated CNS depressant effects w/ CNS depression-producing medications. Adrenergic crisis, collapse, coma, dizziness, excitation HTN, hyperpyrexia, intracerebral bleeding, lethargy, nausea, psychotic behavior, spasm & tremors w/ MAOIs eg, furazolidone, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine. Increased dextromethorphan serum conc w/ amiodarone, fluoxetine, quinidine. Increased serotonergic effects w/ sibutramine.
