Hyoscine-N-butylbromide
Indications/Uses
GIT & GUT spasm, biliary & urinary tract dyskinesia & spasm.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >6 yr 1-2 tab tid to 5 times daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Myasthenia gravis; mechanical stenosis in the GIT; paralytical or obstructive ileus; megacolon.
Special Precautions
Severe, unexplained abdominal pain together w/ symptoms-like fever, nausea, vomiting, changes in bowel movement, abdominal tenderness, decreased BP, fainting or blood in stool. Narrow-angle glaucoma, patients susceptible to intestinal urinary outlet obstructions & in those inclined to tachyarrhythmia. Fructose intolerance, galactose intolerance eg, galactosemia, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients on a controlled Na diet. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylactic shock/reactions, dyspnoea, skin reactions (eg, urticaria, rash, erythema, pruritus); tachycardia; dry mouth; dyshidrosis; urinary retention.
Drug Interactions
Intensifies anticholinergic effects of TCAs, tetracyclic antidepressants, antihistamines, antipsychotics, quinidine, amantadine & disopyramide, & other anticholinergics (eg, tiotropium, ipratropium, atropine-like compd). Diminution effects on GIT may occur w/ dopamine antagonists eg, metoclopramide. Enhances tachycardiac effects of β-adrenergic agents.
