Spironolactone (micronized).
Description
Each tablet contains micronized Spironolactone 25mg.
Indications/Uses
Hepatic cirrhosis: Oedema in hepatic cirrhosis.
Hypertension: Congestive heart failure. Long-term treatment of primary aldosteronism.
Nephrotic syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults take usually 100mg daily.
Children: 3mg/kg body weight.
Contraindications
Do not administer Uractonum in acute renal insufficiency, progressing impairment of renal function anuria or hyperkalaemia.
Do not administer concomitantly with Triamterene or Amiloride as hyperkalaemia may be induced.
Do not use potassium supplements.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Uractonum should be avoided during pregnancy.
Side Effects
Drowsiness, mental confusion, gastro-intestinal intolerance, gynaecomastia and skin rashes have been reported. These side effects however are mild and infrequent.
Storage
Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, away from light.
