Spironolactone (micronized)
Indications/Uses
Hepatic cirrhosis; oedema in hepatic cirrhosis. HTN; CHF. Long-term treatment of primary aldosteronism. Nephrotic syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 100 mg daily. Childn 3 mg/kg body wt.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Acute renal insufficiency, progressing renal function impairment, anuria or hyperkalaemia. Concomitant use w/ triamterene or amiloride. K supplements.
Special Precautions
Avoid during pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, mental confusion, GI intolerance, gynaecomastia, skin rashes.
