Paracetamol
Indications/Uses
Fever & pain due to colds; headache; toothache; muscular, sprain, joint & menstrual pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 1-2 tab every 4-6 hr while symptoms last. Max: 8 tab in 24 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients who suffered from asthma after using paracetamol, its components, or any other antipyretic analgesics.
Special Precautions
History of allergic reaction to painkillers. Not to be taken w/ alcohol; other paracetamol-containing medicines. Underwt or malnourished. Patients regularly drinking alcohol. Discontinue use if the patient experiences allergic reactions; potential serious skin reactions; previously experienced breathing problems w/ aspirin or NSAIDs; nausea, sudden wt loss, appetite loss & yellowing of eyes & skin; unexplained bruising or bleeding; mouth ulcers. May increase risk of metabolic acidosis if the patient has severe infection. Concomitant use w/ warfarin or similar blood thinners; flucloxacillin. Liver or kidney disease; history of liver or kidney disease. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended for childn <12 yr.
