Diphenoxylate HCl 2.5 mg, atropine sulphate 0.025 mg
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of diarrhoea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Obstructive jaundice. Treatment of diarrhoea associated w/ pseudomembranous enterocolitis.
Special Precautions
Not recommended for childn <12 yr. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Anorexia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, paralytic ileus, toxic megacolon; pruritus, gums swelling, giant urticaria, angioneurotic oedema; dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, headache, malaise/lethargy, restlessness, euphoria, depression, resp depression, coma, numbness of extremities. Atropine: Dry skin & mucous membranes, flushing, hyperthermia, tachycardia & urinary retention.
Drug Interactions
May precipitate hypertensive crisis w/ MAOIs. Diphenoxylate: May potentiate action of alcohol, barbiturates & tranquilisers. Atropine: Potentiated effects w/ antipsychotics.
