Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. History of high levels of vit D, bone tumours, elevated blood Ca levels, abnormal metabolic sensitivity to vit D.
Adverse Reactions
Ca metabolism disturbances. Brain & circulatory damage especially in infants. Anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, thirst, increased urine production, drowsiness, confusion, Ca deposits in the kidneys, heart disturbances, coma & heart failure.
Drug Interactions
Increased activity w/ diuretics, Ca & phosphate supplements. Decreased activity w/ antiepileptics, some antibiotic (especially treatment for TB), certain steroids (eg, OC) & steroids (for treatment of inflammation).
