Triamcinolone acetonide
Indications/Uses
Adjunctive treatment & for temporary relief of symptoms associated w/ oral inflammatory & ulcerative lesions resulting from trauma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply a small dab (about ¼ inch) to the lesion at bedtime bd or tds.
Contraindications
History of hypersensitivity of triamcinolone acetonide & propylene glycol. Fungal, viral or bacterial infections of the mouth or throat.
Special Precautions
May be absorbed in sufficient amounts to cause systemic effects when applied to large areas, broken skin or under occlusive dressings. Discontinue use if local reactions develop. Review treatment in 7 days if oral tissue regeneration has not occurred. Patients w/ TB, peptic ulcer or DM. Blurred vision or other visual disturbances. Pregnancy, lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Prolonged use: Adrenal suppression, alteration of glucose metabolism, protein catabolism, peptic ulcer activation. Systemic: Blurred vision.
