Indications/Uses
Acute treatment of migraine w/ or w/o aura in adults. Preventive treatment of episodic migraine in adults who have at least 4 migraine attacks mthly.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Acute treatment of migraine 75 mg once daily as needed. Migraine prophylaxis 75 mg every other day. Max daily dose: 75 mg.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Discontinue use & initiate appropriate therapy if hypersensitivity reaction occurs. Discontinue use if medication overuse headache occurs. Avoid another dose w/in 48 hr when concomitantly administered w/ moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors. Not recommended for concomitant use w/ strong CYP3A4 inhibitors; strong or moderate CYP3A4 inducers. Severe renal impairment; dialysis patients. Not recommended in patients w/ severe hepatic impairment; ESRD (CrCl <15 mL/min). Avoid use during pregnancy. Lactation. Paed <18 yr. Elderly ≥65 yr.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (eg, clarithromycin, itraconazole, ritonavir); P-gp & BCRP efflux transporters inhibitors. May increase exposure w/ moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors (eg, diltiazem, erythromycin, fluconazole); cyclosporine or quinidine. Decreased plasma conc w/ strong (eg, phenobarb, rifampicin, St. John's wort) or moderate (eg, bosentan, efavirenz, modafinil) CYP3A4 inducers. Avoid another dose of Nurtec w/in 48 hr when concomitantly administered w/ strong P-gp inhibitors (eg, cyclosporine, verapamil, quinidine); moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors (eg, fluconazole).
