Hydrocortisone
Indications/Uses
Suppression of skin diseases eg, eczema, infantile eczema, atopic dermatitis, dermatitis herpetiformis, contact dermatitis, neurodermatitis, psoriasis, intertrigo.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly to affected areas once daily to qds. Occlusive dressing may be used for management of psoriasis or recalcitrant conditions.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone or other corticosteroids.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if irritation, sensitivity or other reactions develop. Systemic effects during prolonged & extensive BSA treatment, & when using occlusive technique. Not for ophth use. Consider referral to an ophthalmologist if patient presents w/ symptoms eg, blurred vision or other visual disturbances.Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Burning sensation, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, skin maceration, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, miliaria.
